ComplianceFix review: what you get for £49

Full disclosure: ComplianceFix is our own product. This review aims to be completely transparent about what is included and what is not. We believe honesty about our own product's scope and limitations builds more trust than a sales pitch ever could.

Most UK small business websites are missing at least one required compliance document. The ICO expects every site that collects personal data to have a privacy policy that meets UK GDPR Article 13 requirements. PECR requires a cookie policy. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Electronic Commerce Regulations demand clear business identity disclosures and terms of service. And the Equality Act 2010 increasingly expects an accessibility statement.

ComplianceFix exists because we kept seeing the same problem: small business owners know they need these documents, but getting them written properly feels expensive, confusing, or both. A solicitor might charge £500-1,500 for a bespoke set. Free generators produce generic documents that miss important details. ComplianceFix sits in the middle: tailored documents for £49, generated based on what your website actually does.

What is included

ComplianceFix scans your website and generates a compliance pack containing five documents, each tailored to what your site actually uses:

1. Privacy policy

Tailored to the tools and services detected on your site. If you use Google Analytics, the privacy policy explains the data collected by Google Analytics. If you have a contact form, it covers the lawful basis for processing that data. The policy is structured to meet UK GDPR Article 13 requirements, including your identity as controller, the purposes of processing, lawful bases, data retention periods, and individuals' rights.

2. Terms and conditions

Sector-appropriate terms covering the legal relationship between your business and your website visitors. These cover liability limitations, intellectual property, acceptable use, and the governing law (England and Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland as appropriate). For e-commerce sites, additional clauses cover the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requirements including cancellation rights and refund policies.

3. Cookie policy

A detailed breakdown of the cookies your site sets, categorised by purpose (strictly necessary, analytics, marketing, preferences). This document explains what each cookie does, who sets it, and how long it lasts. It complements your cookie consent banner by providing the detailed written policy that PECR expects.

4. Accessibility statement

A statement that outlines your site's current accessibility status, what standards you are working towards (WCAG 2.1 AA), known limitations, and how users can contact you if they encounter barriers. This demonstrates good faith under the Equality Act 2010 and prepares your business for the increasing focus on web accessibility in UK and EU regulation.

5. Business identity disclosures

The Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 require UK businesses to display specific information on their website, including company name, geographic address, email address, and company registration number if applicable. ComplianceFix generates a structured disclosure that ensures you meet these requirements without burying them in footer text that nobody reads.

The pricing rationale

ComplianceFix costs £49 as a one-off payment. No subscription, no monthly fees, no renewal charges. Here is how that compares to alternatives:

OptionCostTailored to your site?Ongoing fees?
Solicitor (bespoke)£500-1,500+Yes, fullyPer update
ComplianceFix£49 one-offYes, scan-basedNo
Premium generators£5-15/moTemplate-basedYes, ongoing
Free generatorsFreeGenericNo

The £49 price point is designed to be low enough that any small business can afford it, while high enough to fund the scanning technology and ongoing maintenance of the legal templates. Over three years, a premium generator subscription costs £180-540. ComplianceFix costs £49 once.

Who ComplianceFix is for

ComplianceFix is built specifically for UK small businesses and sole traders who:

It is less suitable for large organisations with complex data processing, businesses in heavily regulated industries (financial services, healthcare), or public sector bodies with specific accessibility obligations. Those organisations need bespoke legal and compliance work.

Frequently asked questions

Is ComplianceFix a subscription or a one-off payment?

ComplianceFix is a one-off payment of £49. There is no monthly subscription, no renewal fees, and no hidden charges. You receive your compliance documents once and they are yours to use. If the law changes significantly or you redesign your site, you may want to purchase an updated pack in the future, but that is entirely your choice.

Does ComplianceFix replace a cookie consent tool?

No. ComplianceFix provides your cookie policy document — the written policy that explains what cookies your site uses and why. It does not provide a cookie consent banner or manage cookie blocking. You still need a separate consent management platform like CookieYes or Cookiebot to handle the actual consent mechanism. ComplianceFix and a CMP are complementary, not interchangeable.

Are the documents generated by ComplianceFix legally reviewed?

ComplianceFix documents are generated based on UK legal requirements including UK GDPR, PECR, the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and the Equality Act 2010. They are designed to meet the practical needs of UK small businesses. However, they are not a substitute for bespoke legal advice. If your business has complex data processing activities, handles sensitive personal data, or operates in a regulated industry, we recommend having the documents reviewed by a solicitor.
