1. Who we are

Webinetics is a free website audit service for UK businesses. The data controller is Webinetics, contactable at toby@webinetics.co.uk.

2. What data we collect

Self-service scans (you submit your own website)

• Website URL you submit
• Email address you provide
• IP address (hashed for rate limiting, not stored in raw form)
• Scan results (technical data about the website you submitted)

Cold outreach (we contact you)

• Business domain name (publicly listed on your website)
• Business contact email (publicly available on your website)
• Business name and Companies House number (public records)
• Scan results for your publicly accessible website

Report viewing and interaction

• Pages viewed and time spent (anonymised via IP hashing)
• Scroll depth and interactions with report elements
• Affiliate link clicks (which provider, which category)
• Device type (mobile or desktop, derived from user agent)

3. How we use your data

• To generate and deliver your website audit report
• To send you the report by email
• To improve our scanning accuracy and report quality
• To track aggregate engagement (open rates, click rates) for service improvement
• To prevent abuse (rate limiting scan submissions)

4. Lawful basis

Self-service scans: Consent. You voluntarily submit your URL and email address to receive a report.

Cold outreach: Legitimate interest under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f). We contact UK limited companies (corporate subscribers under PECR) using publicly available business contact details to offer a free service relevant to their website. We do not contact sole traders or individuals. You can opt out at any time.

5. Source of data (cold outreach)

For cold outreach, business contact details are collected from publicly available sources: business websites, Companies House public register, and publicly listed business directories. We only contact UK limited companies, LLPs, and other corporate subscribers as defined under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

6. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Our report pages contain affiliate links to third-party tools. If you click these links, you will be directed to those third-party websites, which have their own privacy policies. We record that a click occurred but do not share your personal data with these providers.

7. Data retention

• Scan results and reports: retained for 12 months, then deleted
• Email addresses: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
• Suppression list (unsubscribed emails): retained indefinitely to ensure we don't contact you again
• Anonymised engagement data (IP hashes, aggregate stats): retained for service improvement

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — correct any inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion of your data
• Restriction — limit how we process your data
• Portability — receive your data in a portable format
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdraw consent — for self-service scans, withdraw consent at any time

9. Unsubscribing

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by emailing toby@webinetics.co.uk. Once unsubscribed, we add your email to our suppression list to ensure you are never contacted again.

10. Cookies

Webinetics does not use cookies. We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking scripts on our website. Report engagement tracking uses server-side logging with anonymised IP hashes.

11. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted database connections, hashed IP addresses, and access-controlled administrative interfaces.
